Keep scanned copies ready before you apply — most delays come from missing fee schedules or co-borrower income papers. Lenders may ask for originals at sanction.
Student
- PAN and Aadhaar; passport for study abroad
- Passport-size photographs
- Admission / offer letter and official fee schedule
- Marksheets: Class 10, Class 12, graduation (as applicable)
- Entrance-test scorecard (JEE, NEET, CAT, GRE, GMAT, IELTS/TOEFL, etc.)
- Scholarship or fee-waiver letters, if any
- Gap certificate or explanation for a break in studies
Co-borrower (parent / guardian)
- PAN, Aadhaar and address proof
- Salaried: last 3 salary slips, Form 16 or ITR for 2 years
- Self-employed: ITR for 2–3 years with computation of income, business proof
- Bank statements for the last 6 months
- Details of existing loans
Collateral (secured loans)
- Title deed and chain of documents
- Encumbrance certificate
- Approved building plan and latest property-tax receipt
- Valuation and legal scrutiny reports (arranged by the bank)
- For FD/LIC/NSC security: original deposit receipts or policy documents
Study abroad extras
- I-20 (US), CAS (UK), CoE (Australia) or equivalent
- Visa (usually before disbursal)
- University cost-of-attendance estimate
- Forex account or card details for living-expense tranches
What you receive
- Sanction letter (often used as proof of funds for visa)
- Key Facts Statement with APR, repayment schedule and all charges
- Loan agreement and, for secured loans, mortgage documents

Is PAN mandatory for the student?
Yes, most lenders require PAN for both the student and the co-borrower.
Do I need the visa before applying?
No. You can apply and get sanction with the admission letter; the visa is usually needed before the first disbursal.
