The Vidya Lakshmi portal, launched in 2015, let students apply to several banks for an education loan with one form. It has been superseded by the unified PM-Vidyalaxmi portal (pmvidyalaxmi.co.in), which now handles education loan applications to participating banks and interest subvention under the PM-Vidyalaxmi scheme. If you search for “Vidya Lakshmi”, use the PM-Vidyalaxmi portal.

- Keep the same mobile number and email throughout.
- Apply to banks with branches near your home — they usually service the loan.

Is the old vidyalakshmi.co.in site still used?
Applications have moved to the PM-Vidyalaxmi portal. Existing applications may have been migrated — contact your bank if you applied earlier.
Is using the portal mandatory?
No. You can also apply directly at a bank, but PM-Vidyalaxmi benefits are processed through the portal.
