What you need to know

Home loan paperwork covers three things: who you are (KYC), whether you can repay (income) and whether the property is legally sound (title and approvals). Property documents take the longest, so start collecting them as soon as you finalise the home.

Is PAN mandatory?

Yes, PAN is required for a home loan and for property registration above the income-tax threshold.

Do I need to give original documents?

Originals of the title deeds are deposited with the lender for the mortgage; for other documents self-attested copies are checked against originals.
