Reading your lender’s statement
- Opening balance, EMI, interest, principal and closing balance for each month.
- Rate changes appear as new EMI or new tenure from the reset date.
- RBI requires quarterly statements for floating-rate loans showing principal and interest recovered, EMI, instalments left and APR.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my outstanding barely falling?
In the first year about four-fifths of what you pay is interest on a 20-year loan at 8.5%. Prepayments early in the loan have the biggest effect.
Where do I get the official schedule?
From your lender’s app or net banking, or on request at the branch; it is also part of the KFS at sanction.
