What you need to know

Foreclosure means repaying the whole outstanding loan before the tenure ends. There is no charge on floating-rate loans to individuals. Fixed-rate bike loans at some private banks carry a charge — for example up to 5% of the outstanding amount at HDFC Bank and 5% at Axis Bank. The calculator shows whether closing now saves money after the charge.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if the lender delays my NOC?

Under RBI rules, if documents are not released within 30 days of full repayment, the lender must pay you ₹5,000 for each day of delay caused by it.

Is “settlement” the same as foreclosure?

No. A settlement means you paid less than owed, and it is reported as “settled”, which hurts your credit score. Foreclosure pays the loan in full.
