Most rejections come down to credit score, income versus existing EMIs, or employer and job stability. Reapplying straight away with several lenders usually makes things worse, because each application adds a hard enquiry.
Reasons and fixes
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Low credit score or recent late payments | Pay every EMI and card bill on time for 6 – 12 months; keep card utilisation below about 30% |
| FOIR too high | Close small loans, cut the loan amount or choose a longer tenure to lower the EMI |
| Too many recent applications | Pause for a few months; check eligibility with soft-check tools before applying |
| Income below the lender’s minimum | Apply where you have your salary account, or add a co-applicant where allowed |
| Employer not on the lender’s list / short job history | Try your salary bank; many lenders want at least 1 year of continuous service |
| Settled or written-off account on report | Clear the dues and ask the lender to update the status; this takes time to recover |
| Errors in your credit report | Raise a dispute with the bureau; RBI rules require resolution within 30 days, with compensation of ₹100 a day for delays |
| Mismatch in documents or address | Make sure PAN, Aadhaar and bank records match before applying |
